First we explore Stornaway and then head for the Bute for an afternoon walk before heading to Carloway. Our first 2 nights are spent on Lewis in Carloway. We visit Carloway Broch, a defence tower from the Early Iron Age, 500 BC. Hike along the wonderful coast at Dail Beag. Visit an Old Norse Mill. And of course not forgetting the famous Callanish standing stones, 3000 - 2000 BC. We hike out to the Beehive Dwellings; these are ancient bee-shaped structures. The last 4 nights we stay in Harris in the village of Tarbet. We trek along a magnificent coastline at Hushinish. Then for the hardy we hike through moorland to Rhenigidale and return along coastal cliffs with fantastic views. On our last day we take the 7.30 am ferry from Harris to Skye.
